Lens Options

Lens options not only enhance the look of your glasses, they can help reduce such things as annoying glares from shiny surfaces or protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet light.  

Which lens options are right for you?  It all depends on the situation and your needs.  For example, the best lens for night driving will minimize glare and maximize acuity for the wearer.  The best option is probably a Melanin night driving lens (Nighthawk or Night Navigator). Melanin's light absorption increases acuity, reduces glare, offers true color recognition, and reduces harmful blue light for better night vision.  Adding an AR coating to Melanin will also enhance the lens performance at night.  The next best would probably be a yellow polarizing lens with an anti-reflective coating.  The polarizing filter will reduce glare and the yellow color will increase acuity while still allowing 80% light transmission.  Finally, a basic lens for night driving would be a clear lens with an antireflective (AR) coating.  This solution works for many people, but may not be enough for the patients bothered by glare at night.
