What's Next
After You Have Received Christ?
The moment that you received Christ by faith and prayer,
as an act of the will, many things happened, including the following:
- Christ came into your life.
Revelation
3:20
"Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears
my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with
me."
Colossians 1:27
"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious
riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
- Your sins were forgiven.
Colossians
1:14 "in whom we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sin."
- You became a child of God.
John
1:12 "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in
his name, he gave the right to become children of God"
- You received eternal life.
John
5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and
believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has
crossed over from death to life."
- You began the great adventure
for which God created you.
John
10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I
have come that they may have life, and have it to the fullest."
2
Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a
new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
1 Thessalonians
5:18 "…in everything give thanks; for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus for you"
Can you think of anything more wonderful that
could happen to you than receiving Christ? Would you like to thank God in
prayer right now for what He has done for you? By thanking God, you
demonstrate your faith.
Suggestions for Christian Growth -
Spiritual growth results from trusting Jesus Christ. "The righteous
man shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11) A life of faith will enable
you to trust God increasingly with every detail of your life, and to practice
the following:
G
Go to God in prayer daily.
John
15:7 "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask
whatever you wish, and it will be given you."
R Read
God's Word Daily - begin with the Gospel of John
Acts
17:11 "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the
Thessalonians, for they received the message
with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul
said was true.
O
Obey God moment by moment.
John
14:21 "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who
loves me. He who loves me will be
loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
W
Witness for Christ by your life and words.
Matthew
4:19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make
you fishers of men."
John
15:8 "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit,
showing yourselves to be my disciples."
T
Trust God for every detail of your life.
1
Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for
you."
H
Holy Spirit - allow Him to control and empower your daily
life and witness.
Galatians
5:16,17 "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify
the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful
nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary
to the sinful nature. They are
in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want."
Acts
1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on
you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Fellowship in a Good Church
God's Word admonishes us not to forsake "the
assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25). Several logs burn
brightly together; but put one aside on the cold hearth and the fire goes
out. So it is with your relationship with other Christians. If you
do not belong to a church, do not wait to be invited. Take the
initiative; call the pastor of a nearby church where Christ is honored and
His Word is preached. Start this week, and make plans to attend regularly.
